10 Things to keep in mind while washing your hair.
A warm hot shower is always comforting. It’s almost therapeutic. But little did you know that whilst this process you are actually hurting your hair. So here are ten things you should keep in mind for a perfect hair wash.
- Don’t underestimate your grandma’s advice about oiling your hair before a healthy wash. Hair oil retains the essential oils and keeps your hair strong, healthy and moisturized. Oiling your hair- a tried and tested tip for years now.
- Before you step into the shower, remember to brush your hair. Get rid of the knots and tangled hair. This will help you to rinse out to your hair easily and also lessen the strands lost during the wash.
- Just like your body needs a good warm up before a long run, your needs to be prepped before a wash. Make sure you rinse your hair well with warm and not hot water. This shall help your pores to open up and facilitate penetration of any hair product that massage on your scalp.
- Measure your shampoo well according to the length of your locks. Coin sized for hair that reaches the shoulder and double for longer. Also, apply the shampoo to the roots of your shafts and do not forget to wash the hair at the nape of the neck.
- To prepare your hair for conditioning, remember to squeeze out the excessive water. If you are someone with short hair, use a towel and for long hair use your hands to squeeze your hair from the midsection to the end.
- Do not rush your hair wash. The faster the better is a myth. After shampooing your hair, take a quarter sized dollop of conditioner and smooth it over your from the mind shaft to the tips. Keep it on for 2-4 minutes and rinse it off completely. Any leftover conditioner can leave your oily.
- If your hair is a little unmanageable, use a leave-in conditioner after taking a shower. This will keep your hair intact for the day.
- While warm water opens the pores, cold water shuts them. Thus the last rinse before you complete the entire hair wash process, should be done with cold water.
- This may not seem vital, but it is. Do not rub your hair vigorously to dry it, instead remove the excessive water and wrap it with a towel to let it set for a few minutes.
- Always make sure you know your hair type to use the perfect shampoo. This step is usually overlooked but is very important.
